Four Ideas in Magog for Getting Into the Christmas Spirit

One way to counter the November gloom is by getting into the holiday mood! We can do that by playing Christmas music, by decorating the tree and preparing mugs of hot chocolate garnished with marshmallows, ready to serve to family and friends in preparation for those long winter evenings. Here are four ideas for getting into the Christmas spirit in Magog right now!

The City Is Already Clad in Festive Garb…

If Santa Claus were looking for a more pleasant place to live than the North Pole, he would do well to move to Magog! The city centre (a mere 2-minute walk from Versō) and Merry Point are already festooned with lights and decorations, sprinkling their Christmas magic around downtown.

If you’re out for a stroll, take time to pop into some of the many attractive shops on rue Principale (Main Street) and enjoy some retail therapy to the sound of seasonal music… On November 20, the Saint-Bosco Church will host the Magog Christmas Market. If you want to meet Santa Claus, he’ll be there!

A Seasonal Show at the Vieux Clocher Theatre

The merry sounds of Christmas music are so uplifting. The familiarity of the classic carols puts a smile on everyone’s face! On December 18, tenor Marc Hervieux will bring his popular show, Nostalgia Noël, to the Vieux Clocher. His repertoire ranges from the hymns sung at midnight Mass to the jolly ditties that are so popular at this time of the year.

Christmas music not your thing? No problem! The Vieux Clocher offers a variety of different shows catering to every taste. Click here to check out the November/December lineup.

Wander Through the Wetlands

The ski slopes will soon be covered in snow, but meanwhile, you can wander through the Marais de la Rivière-aux-Cerises, all the while being kissed by snowflakes and admiring the views of magnificent Mount Orford. These wetlands are, in any case, open year-round, so even when the heavy snow arrives, you can explore the trails (well worth a detour on their own) all through the months of December and January.

Treat Yourself to a Romantic Weekend at the Hotel

After all these outdoor activities, what better way to spend the rest of the day than warming up (physically and mentally!) in our hotel and at the Kóz bistro? Enjoy a Mediterranean-inspired meal and a glass of excellent wine. After that, head back to your room and spend the rest of the evening watching your favourite Christmas movie (or hockey!) or maybe sitting by the fire, watching the snow feather the surface of Lake Memphremagog. And how about ending the evening with a little pre-Christmas surprise for your significant other? Namely, by booking a gourmet cruise for him or her, in the summer of 2023, aboard Escapades Memphrémagog’s Grand Cru boat.
